Why Is The LGBTQ+ Community Hating Joshua?

Is Joshua Bassett Gay?

Joshua recently informed his followers via Twitter that, he had published a statement regarding being baptized by an anti-gay megachurch, despite claiming to be a member of the LGBTQ+ community.

The LGBTQ+ community criticizes his decision to be baptized because many churches continue to use conversion therapy despite it being illegal to do so. Because conversion therapy establishes a precedent for the idea that being gay requires a “cure,” which is completely untrue.

Being homosexual, or, for that matter, a member of any form of LGBTQ+ sexuality, is not a “disease” that needs to be “cured.” And fans don’t want Joshua to fall into the wrong hands. As a result, fans are upset and worried about the American actor’s choice.

i visited this church and happened to get baptized here- i was unaware of some of their policies and beliefs, and do not endorse all of them.
my heart is for Christ and Christ alone!

“I visited this church and happened to get baptized here- I was unaware of some of their policies and beliefs, and do not endorse all of them.

my heart is for Christ and Christ alone!” tweeted Joshua

Joshua’s decision was not well received by all of his supporters because the church he is getting baptized in does not support and recognize the LGBTQ+ community. One of the fans replied:

“So you just decided to enter a random church, and they baptized you? Things don’t work like that. It’s okay if you want your heart to belong to the one you believe but you don’t need a church for that, specially that one that continues to commit crimes against queer people”

While some of the followers are likewise worried about Joshua’s situation. Another follower commented:

“Babe, just know we’re worried about you. this isn’t coming from a place of judgment or being against Christianity; it’s just that we know what these people do to people like us we know they don’t play fair and take advantage of us when we’re at low points we just want you safe”.

Many of Joshua’s supporters, whether they are members of the LGBTQ+ community or not, have been deeply disappointed by his choice. Joshua did state in his tweet that he does not agree with all of the beliefs, to which one of the followers responded:

“If you don’t endorse them then don’t go there babe, or try to learn about the reasons behind their policies/beliefs and maybe you’ll find out they aren’t baseless things !”

While some of Joshua’s supporters have made rational arguments that Joshua doesn’t have to get baptized if he doesn’t want to support certain views or policies, there are also relatively few supporters who really agree with Joshua’s choice. One of his admirers said:

“Lean on the Lord, not politics. If they remain biblically honest, even on stuff that is considered taboo like homosexuality, then that’s the church you belong to. Whatever you were once doesn’t mean. Jesus loves you very much”.

Although some fans are totally okay with it and even praise Joshua for getting baptized, the majority of supporters are still having a hard time accepting Joshua’s commitment to baptism.
